continuing the jackass canyon lost script tips notes
you want to be prepared, you cannot have one way to do it when you are a director.
DP – listen to the actors, don’t grab or touch them – you need to find a way to put them in the proper lighting if you want them to move towards it.
you have a million choices
you do not want to get locked in
Director Jack Bender – Bobby setting up the master scene for LOST
He asks Bobby is that where you’re going to put the camera?
It’ got to be over there!
ensues a 20 min argument (is that all? lol)
the argument is over where the camera is supposed to go
He designed it a certain way in the outline (bobby) and has a philosophy where he wants it to go but… he has to do what his boss wants, this is how you prepare for “anything” to happen.
then bobby says
“Ok I can do it either way”
the other guy says
“NO NO! you have to direct it!” 🙂
You want to be in command. You want to be open. But not have them directing your work. (bobby)
so we can see that compromise is a must as a director (linda!) 🙂
