The Power of WATER Raises a 740 foot long boot into the air and lowers it to Lock 3’s water levels….

the idea girl says

for someone who has never seen it, the welland canal brings lots of ooohs and aaaahs from travelling world tourists that visit the Lock 3 viewing dock.

Not only is there a (donation) museum (free to get in but leave a donation to help with costs), displays change every year so this was a theme about … tools of some sort.. sorry i forget!

then you walk through the museum (play some lacrosse!) and steer a boat and see yourself turning GREEN lol

push buttons to see four different welland canal water routes up the niagara escarpment from st catharines , to niagara falls, fort erie and port colborne, earlier it started at lake ontario by port dalhousie.

then you get a mini movie showing the building history of the welland ship canal from the late 1800s to early 1900s

there’s a gift, curio, souvenir shop and a lounge that shows you photos of the large ships and a docking time frame so you can VIEW the ship being lifted UP and DOWN with the “power of WATER.” 🙂

I have other pics of the rock and me and harry (7 photo attempts lol) kissing too!

they are all jumbled when I uploaded them. Don’t know where they are at the moment, will post them as photos get blogged.

the legend is something about sailors would come to this rock to kiss their girl to seal their love and return home to marry them, usually they did according to historical records!

🙂

it’s located at lock 7 museum – thorold ontario canada

QEW Glendale Ave, heading South on Canal Parkway? (road goes along the welland ship canal’s locks towards #6 the double welland canal lock) it’s up the hill.

notice on the RIght lovely painted wall murals depicting the history of the building of the welland ship canal from the late 1800s to early 1900s
